Beaches in Fort Myers


Bowditch Point Park

  • Location: 50 Estero Boulevard. Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
  • Details: Bowditch Point Regional Park is 17-acres that is located at the northern tip of Estero Island.
    • Approximately seven acres are a developed park for passive recreational use and the remaining 10 acres are a restoration/preserve area.
    • This serene location, which encompasses the entire end of the island, offers a choice of settings to fulfill your needs. The back bay offers quiet waters, peaceful surroundings and a close up look of vessels entering and exiting the bay.
    • The park area features tables and grills, available on a first come first served basis, in a shaded tropical setting sure to please any picnicker.
    • The gulf front is more active while still providing a relaxed atmosphere for walkers, swimmers and sunbathers. 
    • Walking trails, through the restoration/preserve area, carry you through varied environments and offers an excellent opportunity for bird watching while being highlighted by panoramic views of Estero Bay. 
    • This is one of the first beaches Lee County Parks & Recreation made accessible for individuals with disabilities from the parking area to the Gulf of Mexico.
    • A Land Stewardship (Management) Plan has been developed that provides direction on the management of natural resources within the park.  
    • Bowditch Point Park is a designated Great Florida Birding Trail site. For more information, maps and guides please visit the Great Florida Birding Trail.
    • A Saltwater Fishing License is required to saltwater fish from shore. There is no fee for Florida residents.
    • No pets allowed

    Maximum vehicle length 20 feet, no trailer or vehicle trailer parking is permitted.

Crescent Beach Family Park

  • Location: 1100 Estero Blvd. Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
  • Details: This 2.25-acre beachfront park sits at the foot of the Matanzas Bridge on Estero Blvd., along a 400-ft. stretch of beach.

Lynn Hall Memorial Park

  • Location: 950 Estero Boulevard. Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
  • Details: Lynn Hall Memorial Park is located on Ft. Myers Beach, just north of the foot of Matanzas Pass Bridge, next to "Times Square" in the heart of downtown. This lively Gulf-front park is conveniently located adjacent to shopping and restaurants. Amenities include:

Matanzas Pass Preserve - TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE HELENE

  • Location: 199 Bay Road. Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
  • Details: Matanzas Pass Preserve is nearly 60-acres of unspoiled sanctuary located one mile south of Matanzas Pass Bridge just off Estero Blvd. on Estero Island, within the Town of Ft. Myers Beach
    • The main entrance is on Bay Road located behind Beach Elementary School just beyond the Estero Island Historic Cottages. 
    • The Preserve offers 1.25 miles of trails that wind through the canopies of mangroves and an oak hammock. Follow along with the interpretive stations during your trail. 
    • Take the time to rest under the pavilion as you take in a view of the Estero Bay. 
    • Watch for the plentiful wildlife and native plants as you enjoy an afternoon hiking in the Preserve. 
    • There is also a paddle craft landing that is part of the Great Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail so you can also paddle in and enjoy the preserve. 
    • Parking is limited at this preserve.
    • No pets allowed.

San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve

  • Location: 18201 John Morris Road. Fort Myers, FL 33908
  • Details: This 718-acre facility is a natural tidal wetlands area that is located on San Carlos Bay. It is a natural area that is indicative of the entire area before the introduction of exotic plant species; it is "Old Florida." This is a living ecosystem that ranges from a sandy beach to Mangrove forests to salt flats and contains a wide variety of wildlife for viewing and offers great photographic opportunities from the flora & fauna to fantastic sunsets.
    • Parking is $2 per hour.
    • Lee County Annual Parking Stickers are accepted at this location.  
    • Approximately 100 vehicles can park between the site and the beach with no vehicles allowed to park on the west side of John Morris Road.
    • No unauthorized motor vehicles, including electric motors, allowed on the beach.
    • No grills or fires allowed.
    • Pets are not allowed, find dog-friendly parks here.
    • Outfitters launching from Bunche Beach will be required to pay the onsite vendor a fee of $5 per vessel to launch their equipment.
    • This park features access to the Great Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail.
